Vision: To transform feet and our social footprint at the same time, through our modern, socially conscious and proudly South African shoes that, with each sell, will empower and improve the lives of our workers through constant education, fair and livable wages, and an exceptional work environment.
Mission: To educate as many people as possible through Matsidiso shoes, about the needs of South African workers and the needs of our world. Through the creation of our beautiful and tangible products, we will provide a solution to transform one life at a time.
Our vision elaborated:
Matsidiso’s name is derived from Sotho, one of the many South African languages, meaning ‘blessings’. The name is fitting for our brand because our one-of-a-kind handmade shoes are built to last, made for comfort, and meant to bless the feet of the wearer.
Through a purchase of Matsidiso shoes, the buyer in connected to a community that extends past a simple transaction. 3% of each shoe sold will go back into aiding our workers to live a life with a greater standard of living. 2% of each shoe sold will be used to support brilliant causes within the SA community.
Matsidiso is on a mission to build on a better South Africa through its ‘Break The Chains’ programme. Through it, we will empower our own employees through fair wages and by enabling them through ongoing education, allow them the ability to move within the company and seek even greater opportunities. Further, Matsidiso is dedicated to recycling as much of our materials as possible as our vow to keep our Earth clean.
The journey that a hand crafted shoe takes on is not simple. It is by the will of the maker that they are so carefully and perfectly shaped and lasted. To have a pair of handmade shoes is a gift. And through the term Matsidiso, we want to bless as many feet that wear them.
Handmade shoes bring people back to people. Making shoes by hand is an artisan craft, and the art of craftsmanship and community has been lost is a world of quick fix manufacturing.
Matsidiso will connect people, first on a local scale, then global. With refreshingly unique designs that use locally sourced leather, fabrics and materials from South Africa and the surrounding African countries, they will open a new horizon for the handmade shoe sector on a local level.
Matsidiso shoes are built to last, with stunning aesthetics and premium leathers and fabrics, as well as, an incredibly comfortable make.
Our mission elaborated:
Our goal is to empower and enrich the lives of our workers and those within our community…and beyond!
• We create unique and proudly South African products (specifically shoes to start) for women (and eventually men) all over the world, that will share a piece of African heritage with each person who wears our shoes.
• We offer fair wages, awesome working conditions, respect, and incentives to our employees.
• We seek out talent from the likely ‘underdogs’ of society who need financial help so that we can support them in building on their own dreams.
• We will become South Africa’s top employers to work for.
• We recycle as many materials as we possibly can, either using them once again back in our products, or finding a home for them where they can be utilized to their full capacity.
With a roughly 35% unemployment rate in South Africa, there is plenty that we can do to help develop this diverse and creative nation. Beyond South Africa and as we grow, we hope to bring hope and goodness to other nations as we expand and have the capacity to do so.
With each pair purchased, we will be able to ACTUALLY impact the life of someone else in a positive way.
Matsidiso will be more than just a shoe. It will be a conversation starter, a community builder, a companion, and a family.
Through Matsidiso, we will build community through each step taken in making each pair of shoes.
